When registered, you can play against another registered user of your choice. The game will start once you both agree to the matchup.
Unregistered users are paired up with other unregistered users as they connect to the game server.
Your scores against other registered players are kept in the database. These scores may be made public or kept private, depending on your game settings. As a registered user, you may also choose not to have your scores stored on the server.
Scoring for registered users is collated by player. This way, you can rank yourself against other classes of players. Players are automatically ranked as beginner, intermediate, and expert. The ranking is done by a bell curve. That is, the bulk of registered players are placed in the intermediate ranking. And, as you win more games, you may achieve expert status.
As an incentive to score well, a higher ranking gives you more privileges. For instance, you may ignore game requests from lower ranking players if you wish to do so. Higher ranking players also have higher priority to plugin resources when these resources are limitted.
Scores for games played by unregistered users are discarded after they disconnect from the game server.
As a registered user, you may impose a time limit for a round. This way, you can enjoy a fast-paced game, or take your time if you wish. Both registered players may agree to a time limit, or to impose no time limit if that is what you both want.
Unregistered players cannot impose a time limit.
